About South Yarra

Located in the inner-city district of South Yarra, it is one of Melbourne’s oldest and most wealthy neighbourhoods. It is bounded to the north by the Yarra River and Richmond, south by Prahran, and east by Toorak. Apart from that, South Yarra is also home to some of the most magnificent residences in all of Melbourne. Residences on Domain Road, Walsh Street, and Fairlie Court have established new residential land price records (measured in dollars per square metre).

South Yarra provides a diverse range of open space and parks for tourists and locals to enjoy and relax in. The Yarra River and Fawkner Park, which is located along South Yarra’s western edge, are the two main pieces of parks in the region. Parks of smaller size, many of which have playgrounds, may be found scattered across the area.

South Yarra is bordered on the north by the flowing Yarra River, which runs through the area. Along the bank of the river, Alexandra Avenue is shaded, and nearby is the Capital City Trail, a pedestrian and cycling path that connects Melbourne’s inner suburbs and is part of a 32-kilometer circle around the city. There is a continuous parkland buffering the Yarra River, and panoramic views of the city and riverside may be experienced from a number of bridges that span the river into Richmond, including the Church Street Bridge, the Hoddle Bridge near Punt Road, and the pedestrian-only Morell Bridge.
