Canterbury is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located 10 kilometres east of the city’s central business district on the eastern outskirts. Affluent and exclusive, Canterbury is known for its beautiful green boulevards and huge, luxurious historic mansions. It is one of Melbourne’s most costly and exclusive neighbourhoods.
From Mont Albert Road in the north, to Burke Road in the west, Chatham and Highfield roads in the east, and Riversdale Road in the south, Canterbury stretches out to a distance of a few kilometres. Canterbury Road, which runs east–west and nearly bisects the suburb, is the primary road in the neighbourhood.
Canterbury is often regarded as one of the most desirable suburbs in all of Victoria. Canterbury is home to some of Melbourne’s most costly residences, as well as some of the most attractive residences in the city, most of which are located along Alexandra Avenue, Monomeath Avenue, and Victoria Avenue… Canterbury’s “golden mile.” Because Canterbury is such an expensive area, the majority of its residents are big families or senior retirees who can afford to live there. The reason for its high cost is, very simply, its geographic position. It is quite near to the Melbourne CBD, close to schools in Kew, and Burke Road is just around the corner, which has some wonderful shopping, restaurants, and cafes. It is also convenient to public transportation. Safeway is located on Burke Road and is incredibly convenient…in fact, it is the most profitable Safeway in the whole state of Victoria.
